The M2 Browning .50 Cal must be the longest serving piece of equipment in the US military arsenal short of a flat bladed screwdriver. This humble heavy hitting machine gun has been in service since 1933 with the US Military and has gone to war in every conflict the US has been involved in; that service covers land, sea and air being in use with all of these branches and the Marine Corps. To the best of my knowledge the only major change to have taken place in that time is the (QCB) Quick Change Barrel system making life a little easier for the user.
This offering from Legend Productions provides two M2A1 Browning .50 Cal HMG on Bearing Sleeve Mount with each having a different finishing set up. One of these is sporting the Trijicon (MGRS) Machine Gun Reflex Sight. The other option is a sight system that I was unable to find information on, but I believe it is a night or thermal imaging sight; someone here serving may be able to throw some light on this aspect. The rail system over the barrel mounting the light source is also an item I could not find.
These two offerings are quite complex to assemble and require a steady hand to get the best from them. There are areas that need some improvement most notably the muzzle needs some help from a drill to create the barrel rather than a rode. The various sights I have drilled previously and painted the interior and then filled them with clear resin, but all of these approaches are up to the modeller to decide upon. I really like that Legend Productions provides ammunition belts to be shown fed into the weapons and there are also loose rounds provided they can have the heads cut off so that they look as if they’ve been fired. I also appreciate that there is a spare cocking handle provided as it is an easily broken or lost element of the model.
The product is packed inside of an end opening card cartons that Legend Productions uses for all of its smaller offerings and this is then sealed in a heat shrink plastic that keeps the packaging secure. Inside there is a single Ziploc bag containing all of the resin parts for this product and a fold out sheet of paper; I will say that I struggle to follow the instructions in these sets and usually turn to the Legend Productions website and between that and the paper I can usually find my way through. Despite this being free to move around inside the carton my set has no damage present despite being posted all the way from South Korea to the UK.
This offering from Legend Productions is a nice offering despite my inability to find one of the set ups presented. There are a large number of parts in the product with most be very fine, so when it comes to removal and cleanup you could find the prospect difficult and so if you are not familiar with using resin I suggest you get something easier under your belt first. I like that the ammunition belts have been included along with loose rounds as it is an aspect that is often overlooked.
