Since I don't plan to spend a fortune on a resin Land Rover, and since the only good plastic ones are from the 1990's and later, I did think of another unit from the late 1960's/early 1970's: Takom's Mk II Chieftain tank.

I can assume the kit is period and would be painted in Deep Bronze Green? And would be great at crushing space aliens?

Depends on what episode you saw it in. Peter Capaldi had one in a recent episode, which might have been a Mark 11. Medium Green and black was the scheme used during its career. Bronze green was dropped in the late sixties, as I recall.

This link below is to the one I mentioned in the Land Rover thread last week. There was another episode with a different doctor but I don't remember which. More than likely when one of the pesky alien forces was invading London.

Actually I'm not recreating a specific episode. The idea was to show what might be around when the third or fourth Doctor was exiled on Earth with UNIT.

The episode "Robot" which was the first with the fourth doctor used the Action Man toy tank for its tank. That toy was based on an early Scorpion. So backdate a Scorpion kit for the old UNIT episodes.

As for Landrover I just threw UNIT markings on the 1/25 Esci kit and posed some the figures from the Tamiya Centurion with it in tan berets with some scratch built Sterling SMG and called it a day. No one ever told me I was wrong. They all said it was cool that I'd done a Dr Who landrover. Sadly destroyed in a shelf collapse and the figures sold off.

The one in the clip with Peter Capaldi is a very late vehicle, probably a Mk 11, but I won't swear to it, and the cammo on this preserved item looks to be a vague pale olive, not a standard color. If you want to do a Chieftain suitable for Tom Baker's era, do a Mk 5, and paint it green and black.

T
I think here is an old series episode where there is a Green/black Chieftain in it. I remember vaguely that when the time came to shoot a monster, the driver called out 'Fire"... not the commander!

Except by the time Tom Baker was the Doctor, he was already freed of the Time Lords' exile and was in fact severing his connections with UNIT. That's why I wanted to do something from the Pertwee era.

Pertwee was the Doctor 1970 to 1974. The Chieftain 5 and Centurion 11 were then in service.

There was a Chieftain in the episode with the dinosaurs in London?

But the episode with UNIT fielding a tank was "Robot" with an Action Man Scorpion playing the tank. Looked just like a Dinky toys one and the 1/76 Airfix kits I had at the time it aired.

Contemporaneously, Monty Python had a Conqueror in one of their episodes with two exterminators posed atop it because nothing is more dangerous than a wounded mosquito.

Well, I do recall he did some episodes with Sarah Jane and the Brigadier, but if you want to go back a bit further, the Chieftain Mk 3 will work.
